My Research

My research concerns the neutral gas properties of groups of galaxies. I am using the HI Parkes All Sky Survey (HIPASS) to look at southern groups in HI.

By looking at the HI in groups, a better understanding of the galactic evolutionary process may be gained. Currently, I am investigating the HI content of the Hickson compact groups in the south. The next step in my project is to create a group catalogue using the HIPASS catalogue, and to compare this catalogue to those found using optical sky surveys.

Prior to my PhD, I did an honours project at the University of Melbourne, and built a receiver system for a radio telescope located on campus. My website for this project can be found here.
